I am a retired art teacher presently living in Port Germein. In 2007 I was a founding member of Germein Art Focus, a popular and successful art group in the Mid North for more than ten years. We held many exhibitions across the state from Port Adelaide to Roxby Downs with regular exhibitions at our home gallery in Port Germein. Solo exhibitions have been held in Port Augusta, Port Pirie, Murray Bridge, Clare, and Melrose.
I have won several art awards including the Port Lincoln Art Prize (2015), the Southern Flinders Art Prize (twice) and the Whyalla Art Prize (1974). I have also been a finalist in the 2015 Whyalla Art Prize, and the 2016 Pro Hart Art Prize.
The use of quality materials was instilled into my art practice through classes with Tom Gleghorn, renowned Australian artist and paint technologist, and Arthur Philips, a prominent watercolour artist and teacher.
Using multiple open layers in my acrylic paintings, I seek to present a broken surface with a readable and contemplative depth reflecting the stories embedded in the geology and ecology of the Flinders.
