About RSASA

Established in 1856, we are Australia’s oldest continuously running art society. RSASA represents South Australian artists, presenting about a dozen exhibitions a year in our historic gallery in the Institute Building on North Terrace, Adelaide.

The RSASA Gallery is situated on Level 1, in the Institute Building, on the corner of North Tce & Kintore Ave, Adelaide. A historic gallery, built in 1906 for the RSASA.

The RSASA has celebrated 165 years in 2021, and maintains a membership of creative artists in media of art. A member-based art society, the oldest in Australia with a prolific membership of all levels. The aim is to encourage artists to showcase their art in our wonderful gallery. Select the RSASA emblem link at the bottom of this page to find out more about our history.

The RSASA stages Youthscape exhibitions for artists 15 – 26 years, as well as the RSASA Portrait Prize and RSASA Abstract prized exhibitions. With talented tutors, the RSASA Summer School is staged each January with a host of informative workshops on offer. The RSASA also organises a Life Drawing Group and a Friday morning Sketch Group. There is much on offer to all artists.
