“First Bath” is a simple painting with a simple premise. To capture the moment my first child received her first bath. Mother gently washes her head in the sink of the maternity ward as she starts taking in the world around her, including the feel of her mother’s hair.

Salty Creek, oil on canvas, 120 x 50 cm, $1,000
This is a painting of one of the ephemeral creeks that flow down from the Denison and Davenport Ranges near the Oodnadatta Track. We stopped here briefly to allow some researchers to collect some samples of fossil mound spring limestone that was exposed in the creek. I liked how the salt in the now dried up creek seemed to still capture the rush of water.
