Steps Along the Way: A 50 year Journey – A Vikki Waller Retrospective

Institute Building, Level 1, Cnr North Tce & Kintore Ave, Adelaide, SA, 5000
16 Jan - 6 Feb 2021

An Exhibition of artworks in painting, printing, mixed media and textiles.

Vikki Waller’s first steps into the world of art were traditional and tentative.  She explored landscapes and gum trees in oils.  Then she discovered the joy of gouache paints.  From here evolved an exploration into story telling using the basics of design and colour.

Once a mature age student, Vikki found her preferred passion – using simple mixed media.  She skillfully combined fabrics and yarns with dyeing, painting, printmaking, photography, digital imagery with hand and machine embroidery and along the way, happy accidents lead to a new path of unique visual art that intrigues and delights the art viewer.

Vikki’s exhibition is an exciting glimpse of where steps can lead into a world of risk-taking experiments with new processes, ignoring the rules and having fun on the way.  The critical voices internal and external became of little concern in her extraordinary quest for freedom of expression.

As a member of Wild Fibre Artists, The Embroiderers’ Guild of SA, The Red House Group and a Fellow/Life Member of RSASA Vikki has exhibited in many group exhibitions in Australia and overseas.

Vikki will be present in the gallery Friday 15th & Saturday 16th January 1:00 – 3:30pm

Exhibition opening hours: Mon – Fri 10:30 – 3:30pm, Sat 1 – 3:30pm (Closed Public Holidays).
